Seven commissioners decide what can be built in Westport. Their votes on a handful of applications over the past 15 months have shaped Saugatuck, the Post Road and the town’s affordable housing strategy. This tracker collects the major ones, as reported by local press. Where a report named how each member voted, so do we.

The Hamlet, July 2025
Patrizia Zucaro, Amy Wistreich, Michael Calise and the chair, Paul Lebowitz, voted to deny ROAN Ventures’ mixed-use Hamlet. Neil Cohn, Michael Cammeyer and Breanne Injeski abstained. “I cannot be in the majority tonight,” Cohn said. The full story of the site since then is in our Saugatuck report.
Offsite affordable units, April 2026
Bolton, Valante, Calise and Schiavone voted against Text Amendment 864. Lebowitz, Cammeyer and Injeski voted for it. Our story on the vote explains what it would have done.
State compliance, July 2026
The commission unanimously approved a text amendment bringing Westport’s rules into line with Public Act 25-1 and passed a map amendment creating Conservation and Traffic Mitigation Districts along the Post Road and downtown. Our explainer on the law covers both.
Saugatuck, September 2026
The commission voted 6-0 to eliminate the Saugatuck Marina zone created for the Hamlet and to move 14 Saugatuck Center properties into a GBD/Saugatuck designation.
Baron’s South
The Westport Journal reported on June 24, 2025, that the commission backed Text Amendment 849, 6-1, allowing four buildings on the town-owned Baron’s South property to become 12 affordable units. That vote came before the period this table covers, and we could not confirm the project’s current status.
The seats
Democrats won all three Planning and Zoning seats on the November 2025 ballot, which went to Craig Schiavone, Michael Cammeyer and Breanne Injeski, according to Patch.
