Designed in 1958 by a protégé of Mies van der Rohe and listed on the National Register in 2010, the house on Burritt’s Landing is a rare intact piece of Westport’s modern period.
Preservation
Westport can delay a demolition for 180 days and can block one only in a designated district. This year an 1810 saltbox on Riverside Avenue showed what else it takes to keep an old house standing.

In 2007, after the National Trust and the state’s attorney general intervened, the Micheels House on Minute Man Hill was demolished. It was the first Rudolph house lost after the architect’s death.
